Rye Community Primary School

Geography

At Rye Community Primary School, the Geography curriculum is designed to meet the aims of the EYFS framework and the national curriculum. Its aim is to ensure that teaching provides a broader and deeper understanding of the four areas of geography identified in the curriculum. This includes developing contextual knowledge of globally significant places and understanding the processes that give rise to key physical and human geographical features of the world, along with how these features bring about variation and change over time.  The focus is on improving children's geographical vocabulary, map skills, and geographical facts, while providing opportunities for consolidation, challenge and variety to ensure sustained interest and progress.
